When Jerry Papenfuss started his career in sales at KAGE AM in Winona, his office was a card table in the hallway, but within a few months, he had become the station’s manager, and over the years, he and Pat, who serves as operations manager and human resources director, have developed the Result Radio Group into one of the most important broadcasting companies in Minnesota. Besides KAGE AM, the organization now owns and operates Winona stations KAGE FM, KWNO AM & FM, and KHME FM, as well as KBEW AM & FM in Blue Earth, KBRF, KZCR, and KJJK AM & FM in Fergus Falls, KPRW in Perham, and KDOM AM & FM in Windom. Jerry Papenfuss is a past president of the Minnesota Broadcasters Association and a former member of the board of directors of the National Association of Broadcasters. Both he and Pat are committed to small market radio and recognize that broadcasters must be connected to the community and its needs. They are outspoken advocates on local issues and are active in numerous community and service organizations and the Republican Party. And although they are absentee owners in four of their markets, they work hard to keep close contact and support localism in each of the communities their stations serve.
