Charles "Woody" Woodward
Inducted 2011

Charles “Woody” Woodward was born into radio.  His father worked at WOWO in Fort Wayne, Indiana when Woody was born, and later transferred to WIND in Chicago.  Woody often visited the stations with his father, and learned to love radio.  In 1962 his parents purchased KSUM in Fairmont.  Woody’s career at the station started on July 1, 1974 when he joined the sales staff.  Four years later he moved to a similar job at the newly established KFMC, eventually becoming Station Manager.  In 1980 he was promoted to General Manager of both KSUM and KFMC.  He owns and operates the stations to this day.  Woody was one of the founders of the Minnesota Ag Network (MAGNET) offering quality farm programming and advertising opportunities for southern and central Minnesota.  A digital media kit that Woody designed helped the organization receive the National Association of Agri Marketers “Masters of Marketing Award.”  Woody has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Broadcasters Association, as well as President of that group.  He is also involved in many community organizations, including the Red Cross, the March of Dimes, the Fairmont Salvation Army, the Fairmont Chamber of Commerce, the Fairmont United Fund, and the Martin County VFW.
